Rio Grande Southern
Welcome!
This is a personal website by Michael McCaffery (the "bendrailroader") used for communicating information about his hobby of model railroading.
I switched in 2007 from HO standard gauge to Sn3 (S scale narrow gauge 3 feet wide), and will model Colorado narrow gauge and specifically the Rio Grande Southern in the mid to late 1940s.
The site will continually be updated and added to as construction proceeds or other information is added.
Click here for some basic information and history on the Rio Grande Southern.
Click here for photographs of Colorado made during a trip to the area in fall of 2007. These give an idea of the grandeur of the magnificent area in which the Rio Grande Southern operated.
Click here for discussion and drawings of my layout design.
Click here for photos of construction progress my model railroad representing the Rio Grande Southern. (New photos as of 8/21/09.)
Announcement:
With a mixture of happiness and sadness, I'm planning on a move to a smaller home which will necessitate the dismantling of the layout featured herein. The good part of this is that the next "hobby room" will be larger and allow a single level version of the RGS, which will be a great benefit. I expect the process of moving to the new place will take until the beginning half of 2010, and the website will continue to document the progress of the work. Thanks for stopping by!
